Monday Motivator vs Monday Motivator – Battle of the oils

Here we are again. Monday has arrived and with it the endless questions…Where are my keys? Who is picking up the kids from day camp? Did someone feed the dog? Why do toddlers like to play hide and seek with my purse? What does hot coffee taste like? For most of us, our Monday morning questions list is endless. The most common question…what product is best for my hair – this question is posed not only on Monday, but everyday. Trust me, this I know. I am asked everyday via text, email or by a comment on my blog. With so many products out there, how are we to know what to use? Today I am hoping to shed a little light on two products for you all. Over the past week I created a “battle of the oils” if you will. Moroccanoil vs SarynaKey.

Both of these oils are formulated to hydrate and moisturize the hair and to help repair damage and restore luster and shine to the hair. *side note – Moroccanoil has a “light” formula for fine hair/blondes, this I know. I used the original formula for it was the closest to SarynaKey’s formula and I wanted an equal comparison.

Morocannoil Oil Treatment (original) is infused with antioxidant rich argan oil and shine boosting vitamins. It detangles, speeds up drying time and boosts shine. Can be used on wet or dry hair. Formulated for all hair types, chemically treated or natural and any length. *ingredient list to be found at http://www.moroccanoil.com

SarynaKey Pure African Shea Oil Treatment is infused with shea butter – a natural source of keratin which is used to repair hair, leaving the hair soft, shiny and well moisturized. Vitamins and amino acids penetrate the hair cuticle to help restore porosity from root to tip. Can be used on wet or dry hair. Lightweight, absorbs quickly and formulated for all hair types, chemically treated or natural and any length. *ingredient list to be found at http://www.sarynakey.com

Now, for my results.

I used Moroccanoil Oil Treatment for 3 days. I washed my hair the first day, for the other two, I just wet my hair in the shower before styling and blow drying. The first day I applied a dime size amount throughout my hair when it was damp, blew dry my hair and styled. My hair felt softer and had a little more shine, yet still had some tangles. For the other two days, I applied the same size amount of Moroccanoil to my hair when it was dry, after using my flat iron *it is not a thermal protectant*. My hair continued to feel soft but was becoming weighed down and I found it harder to achieve volume and style and unfortunately my blonde was starting to pick up brassy tones. (…I know, the Moroccanoil light formula was created to stop this. As I stated above, I wanted an equal comparison). All in all, a lovely oil, best suited for medium to thick hair, and darker tones and colors.

I used SarynaKey Pure African Shea Oil Treatment for the next 3 days. I washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo to give myself a blank canvas if you will. As with the Moroccanoil, I washed my hair the first day, then only wet my hair in the shower before styling and blow drying for the remaining two days. The first day I applied a dime size amount throughout my hair when it was damp, blew dry my hair and styled. My hair felt softer, had shine and no tangles at all. For the next two days, as with the Morocannoil, I applied the same amount of SarynaKey to my hair when it was dry… again, after I used my flat iron *this is not a thermal protectant*. My hair continued to feel soft, it was not weighed down, it was easy to achieve my desired volume and style….and no brassy tones. My blonde stayed true. As you know, I am  a “non blonde” blonde. My natural level is between a 2/3, so I pick up brassy tones easier then men and money. All and all, a lovely oil as well. Suited for all hair types, fine to thick, and any color, from light to dark.

I am not here to sway an opinion in any way, shape or form. My sole purpose, as always is to educate and enlighten. Both Morocannoil and SarynKey oils are Salon professional oils that deliver on their promise. The difference I found was this…Moroccanoil has 2 Oil Treatments, one for medium to thick hair & darker tones and one for fine hair & lighter tones. SarynaKey has 1 Oil Treatment, formulated for all hair types and tones. Sometimes, having one less decision in your day can make your day that much easier.

A little tidbit of information for your back pocket as you venture into your week. Wishing you a great hair day this Monday and everyday.

….another Moroccan’ Monday Motivator

It was inevitable, Monday has arrived. I for one have been known to put on my best pout around 8:00 p.m. on a Sunday evening, knowing that Monday morning was mocking me with every tick of the clock. Since we cannot control time, nor the calendar, why not embrace Monday and make the best of it. We cannot control that a toddler thinks a snowsuit in June is appropriate daycare wear, the sighs, grunts and the all too familiar “UGH!” from our teens, every morning, nor can we control our spouse staring at us, stating over and over “Where are my keys?”…FYI…how about instead of staring at us, move your eyes around and help find them. You all get the picture, Monday morning can be, interesting. Today, I have a treat for you! This gem will bring a smile to your face and relief to your mind. A pot on the stove could be boiling over, a child and dog running through your legs playing tag, a teenager blaming you for their “horrible wardrobe” and with one application of this Mondays Motivator, bliss will surround you and for a moment the chaos of your morning will melt away. Let me introduce you to Moroccanoil Body Hand Cream

For those who may not know, Moroccanoil has a body line. It offers everything body, from Body Oils, Shower Milks, Bar Soaps, Body Scrubs and creams. I receieved a sample of the hand cream in a gift pack a year ago, and immediately called my rep. and ordered 6. I gave a few as gifts and selfishly kept some for myself. I have one in my purse, at my computer and by my bed. The scent is heavenly…it just makes me smile. With every application, I sigh and smile. What I find the most exciting is I have sensitive skin and I can use this hand cream. I have given Moroccanoil Body Hand Cream to friends with skin more sensitive than mine and they were elated! They could use it too.

Moroccanoil Body Hand Cream offers Moroccanoil’s original scent. It is a Paraben free cream. This gem absorbs quickly, so no worry of being locked in the bathroom because your hands keep slipping of the doorknob. Your hands are left soft and silky. The secret is in that sauce, so to speak. Moroccanoil Body Hand Cream is formulated with nutrient rich argon oil, avocado oil, cocoa, shea butter and mango butter. This combo delivers a luxurious, moisturizing effect and helps to repair dry hands. Here’s a break down for you;

  • Argan Oil helps to hydrate and nourish skin = improved texture and tone
  • Shea Butter is rich in essential fatty acids = increased moisture and strength for the skin barrier
  • Avacado Oil contains powerful antioxidants  = helps build skins natural defenses and restores moisture

You are going to adore this cream. The only warning I have for you is you may be referred to as Mary Katherine Gallagher because you will be smelling your hands so often.

The Key to Damage Repair

At one time or another, we have been there. Standing in the bathroom, looking down at our hairbrush, then slowly moving forward to face our reflection in the mirror as we wince at the state of our hair. We see little hairs popping out of our head, our ends are starting to resemble the shag bathmat that we stand upon. In our minds eye we start to wonder if we could pull off a pixie cut.

At some point or another, we have all damaged our hair. Too many late night flat ironing sessions. One too many back to back color processes. Thinking an at home perm was a great idea. Whichever the culprit, there is a remedy for what ails your beloved tresses. Let me introduce you to Saryna Key’s Damage Repair Pure African Shea Oil.

SarynaKey Damage Repair Oil Just one of the wonders from the Damage Repair line.

Saryna Key’s Damage Repair oil contains the largest concentration of Shea Butter – a natural source of keratin, that works to bring damaged hair back to life. Any type of damaged hair, chemically damaged (over processed) and damage caused by thermal styling tools will begin to look and feel healthier and softer after the first application. This gem also contains vitamins and amino acids that penetrate into the hair’s cuticle, from root to end, restoring and nourishing the hair.

It’s fast absorbing, lightweight formula means that it can be applied to the finest of strands to the thickest of tresses;

  • Can be applied to clean, damp hair before styling products and blowdrying. *Usually 1-3 pumps will suffice.
  • Can be applied to dry hair, after styling to eliminate the look of split ends and/or flyaways. *I suggest 1 pump, emulsify in your hands, light spread at the root to eliminate pesky flyaways, then work your way down your hair to the ends for a smooth, soft and shiny finished look.

Saryna Key offers a complete Damage Repair line, from Shampoo to weekly treatment. I have personally used this line and let me tell you, coming from a not so natural blonde, it is a life saver, or hair saver for that matter. Saryna Key’s products are paraben free, phosphate free and sulfate free. It is a cruelty free line = they do not hurt little bunnies and their bottles are 100% recyclable.

Damaged hair repaired. No animal testing. Saving the planet. Smiling and flipping your hair at every mirror you come across…what more could a girl ask for?

Bid adieu to dandruff

Today’s tale is going to cover something most people try to cover up. Dandruff. For some, it is a pesky flake or two. For most, it is a little more. Dandruff is mainly caused by the skin cells on our scalp shedding too quickly.

The skin on our scalp continuously rejuvenates itself. In the case of dandruff, the skin decides to have a party, and instead of empty bottles scattered through your house, you are left with flakes on your scalp and unfortunately on your clothes. Dandruff can be caused by something as simple as dry skin, seasonal changes, stress or a reaction to a new fragrance. It is also caused by side effects of a less simpler condition such as psoriasis, eczema, or seborrheic dermatitis. For those who have dealt with dandruff, there are two things we know for certain: 1) most dandruff shampoos smell horrible and 2) most dandruff shampoos leave our hair feeling too dry or too oily. Until now. Let me introduce you to Saryna Key Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. This shampoo offers a potent source of Shea Butter combined with 5 natural oils, chamomile, and lavender that work together to clean and soothe the scalp and calm over active sebaceous glands. Zinc is naturally found in Shea butter, which is necessary to combat dandruff as it helps slow the turnover of skin cells. Being part of the Saryna Key family, the Anti-Dandruff shampoo offers an additional perks. It repairs your hair, created for all hair types, and is a color safe formula.

Time to Shine

After its winter slumber, spring is upon us. The birds are chirping, the days are getting longer, everything seems better and brighter.  For many of us, the harshness of the winter weather, the dry blast of heat from the furnace and the ever present flat iron have become the enemy of our beloved tresses. The sun may be shining longer and brighter, our hair, not so much…until now. Let me introduce to you, from the SarynaKey Damage Repair line, your new best friend. Meet SarynaKey Damage Repair Gloss Spray.

SarynaKey Damage Repair Gloss Spray

SarynaKey Damage Repair Gloss Spray contains the healing benefits of Shea Butter, vitamins, amino acids and proteins that safe guard your hair and keep it hydrated. Healing and repairing the split ends that go along with dry, damaged hair all the while delivering a fantastic, natural shine. Formulated for all hair types, its lightweight formula will not weigh down fine hair, yet is potent enough for thick, coarse hair. No greasy residue and no brassy effect on blondes. It also contains UV filters to protect your color from the sun and environmental changes.

Some of my FAB! SarynaKey Damage Repair Gloss Spray Spring & Summer tips!

  • Apply pool side to help protect your color from the damage of chlorine and salt water * the chlorine/salt will adhere to the shine spray more than your hair = less damage to your hair and keeps your color vibrant.
  • Take it with you to the beach! Apply to your hair to protect your color from the sun’s U.V. rays.
  • After a day out at the beach or on the boat, spray on your hair as an instant refresher.
  • Your ends are looking a little fuzzy and you can’t get into the Salon for a trim? Spray a little SarynaKey Damage Repair Gloss Spray in your hands and rub into the ends of your hair = no more fuzzy ends and you are ready for a night on the town.

Beautiful, silky, shiny hair every day, thanks to SarynaKey.

The Color Key

I have a confession to make. Those familiar with my Salon Tales are already aware of my secret, so it is only fair the newcomers be in on it as well. I am  a bottled blonde…yes, I was born with platinum tresses. Alas, they slowly turned to brown and as I entered my thirties, I began to have my own 50+ shades of grey – hence the bottled blonde – this way when my grey roots appear I can say “it’s just the platinum”. Why the glimpse into my hair history? Well, I have found a lovely product line that I need to tell you about. It’s a lovely line for anyone who colors their hair. I have introduced you to SaynaKey Volume Lift with my tale;

https://thatgirlintheredcoat.com/2015/01/26/a-brand-new-key/

Today, let me introduce you to SarynaKey’s Color Lasting line. First and foremost – the smell is divine! It smells like an island getaway. The Color Lasting line offers UV filters to protect the vibrancy of your color. It leaves your hair feeling soft and manageable with a lovely shine.

Color Lasting Treatment Shampoo – A lightweight shampoo that packs a punch! Containing a unique combination of Shea butter, cotton and silk proteins that provide a protective layer that also helps to repair split ends. The added benefit of vitamin B6, protein and amino acids helps to strengthen and protect the pigments of hair from root to tip. For best results – lather and leave on for 2 minutes, or wash your hair two times in a row. I tried both and was pleased with both results. * great for color/chemically treated hair in normal to dry condition

Color Lasting Treatment Conditioner – The first thing you will notice about the conditioner is that it is not as thick or creamy as you expect conditioner to be. Do not let that sway you – for a lightweight formula, just as the shampoo – it really packs a punch! This gem of a conditioner glides through the hair with ease, detangles and rinses out easily. Color Lasting Treatment Conditioner is filled with Shea nut butter which prevents your color from fading and provides a lovely shimmer. For best results – after shampooing with Color Lasting Treatment Shampoo, apply a generous amount throughout your hair, leave on for 1 minute then rinse. * I have fine hair that most conditioners can leave feeling greasy and weighed down. I applied a very generous amount of conditioner and my hair felt soft and smooth, not greasy and my hair was not weighed down.

Color Lasting Treatment Mask – I have tried many treatments in my 5 years of being a bottled blonde and I have to say, SarynaKey’s Color Lasting Treatment Mask has become one of my new favorites. After using this conditioning treatment my hair was soft, shiny and my ends looked smooth. This conditioning treatment contains an advanced Shea nut butter with natural ingredients such as keratin and amino acids that surround, penetrate and enrich the hair. It also contains UV ray screens that protect the pigments to lock in your color. For best results – after shampooing and conditioning with Color Lasting Treatment Shampoo and Conditioner, apply a generous amount and massage into the hair, beginning at the tips and working your way to your roots. Leave in for 5 minutes and rinse with cool water.

Color Lasting Pure African Shea Oil – a lightweight oil containing Shea Butter – a natural source of keratin which repairs damaged hair. Color Lasting Pure African Shea Oil can be applied to damp or dry hair and absorbs quickly without leaving the hair looking or feeling greasy. When applied to damp hair, it helps to detangle and add shine while blow drying. When applied to dry hair, after styling, it adds that extra sheen and seals up any split ends and controls pesky flyaways. * it is best to apply any oil after you have completed styling with your flat iron.

Whether your hair is fine or coarse, thin or thick, SarynaKey’s Color Lasting line nourishes and repairs all the while protecting your color. You now have the Key to long lasting color. You’re welcome.
